Bringing the development studio that catapulted the Metroid Prime series into critical acclaim on board may be what Metroid Prime 4 needs for its best shot at success. We haven’t heard much in terms of the release date of Metroid Prime 4, or any info at all really, but Nintendo did a least mention it in their latest financial briefing. Considering how dedicated and vocal Nintendo fans can be (especially diehard fans of the Metroid series), Metroid Prime 4 needs to be a well-polished game to see any kind. Retro Studios, the development studio behind the first three Metroid Prime games and the much-beloved Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country Returns: Tropical Freeze, will be taking over development of Metroid Prime 4. That basically resets the clock on a game highly anticipated by Nintendo fans. In a video to fans, senior managing executive officer Shinya Takahashi said that the “current development progress has not reached the standards we seek in a sequel to the Metroid Prime series.” Takahashi stated that Nintendo was not happy with the quality of the game and has decided to completely erase everything that has been done so far and to restart development. 3 years since the 'starting again' on Metroid Prime 4 announcement is nothing compared to the 8 years without a game release milestone Retro Studios will reach in 3 weeks time. We’ve heard almost nothing about the development of the latest installment in the Metroid franchise, Metroid Prime 4, since its announcement at E3 2017. It is going to be the fourth installment in the widely popular Metroid Prime series. For a series that tends to fly under the radar and is usually forgotten, Metroid has an avid (if small) fan base. Metroid Prime 4 has been under development for a very long time after Nintendo initially announced it for Switch during E3 2017.
